Jorik Scholten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈjɔrɪk sxɔltən]; born 15 October 1994), professionally known as Lil' Kleine (pronounced [lɪl ˈklɛi̯nə]), is a Dutch musician and actor. He collaborated with fellow rapper Ronnie Flex to produce the number ane single "Drank & Drugs" and the number ane anthology WOP!.
Career [edit]
1994–2013: Early life and career beginnings [edit]
Scholten was born on xv October 1994 in the Nieuwmarkt district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. At the age of ane, he was diagnosed with leukemia in his dorsum that required surgery.[1] He spent the first vii years of his life in De Wallen, moving to Amsterdam-Oost with his father after his parents divorced.[1] [2]
Scholten was signed with talent agencies at an early historic period and made his acting debut in the 2005 film Diep. Later on befriending rapper Lange Frans, Scholten began performing with Lange Frans' band D-Men on-stage. In 2012, Scholten adopted the stage name "Lil' Kleine" and released his beginning EP: Tuig van de Richel. [ii] [3] The post-obit twelvemonth, the song: Zo Verdomd Alleen, which he recorded with Danny de Munk, reached the Single Peak 100.
2013–present: Drank & Drugs, WOP!, Alleen and other endeavours [edit]
After signing with hip-hop label TopNotch in 2013, Scholten collaborated with fellow rapper Ronnie Flex to produce the single Drank & Drugs, a vocal about booze, drugs and sex, which reached number ane on the Single Pinnacle 100 and was certified double platinum.[ii] [iii] Drank & Drugs won the 3FM Award for Best Single in March 2016.[four]
In February 2016, Scholten released his debut album WOP!.[3] In the album's first week, all xi of its tracks ranked inside the top 35 of the Single Top 100 and the album reached number 1 on the Album Top 100 – it is the first hip hop/rap album in holland to accomplish these feats.[five] [vi] WOP! also became the near-streamed new album on Spotify in Dutch history, existence streamed over one.five million times during the 24 hours after its release, beating the previous tape holder, Justin Bieber's Purpose.[half dozen] [7] [8] Too in its first calendar week, all of the album's tracks ranked inside Spotify's Netherlands Meridian 50, with singles "Niet Omdat Het Moet" and "i, 2, 3" (both featuring Ronnie Flex) at numbers 1 and 2 respectively.[7] "Niet Omdat Het Moet," received over half a million views on YouTube during its first few days, being the most viewed YouTube video in kingdom of the netherlands at the time.[6] [7]
Scholten'southward second album, Alleen, was released in May 2017. All eleven of its tracks reached Spotify's Netherlands Summit 25, with songs Krantenwijk (featuring Boef) and Alleen at numbers i and ii respectively. Collectively, Scholten's songs were streamed by one.84 million listeners on Spotify during the month preceding the album's release. It was the get-go time an individual Dutch artist's music was streamed past that many listeners in a month'south time.[9] [x]
In 2017, Scholten was i of fifteen celebrities who competed on the nineteenth season of Expeditie Robinson. He was the first contestant to exit the contest, having been voted off at his own request after three days.[11]
Scholten was a coach on The Voice of Holland from the ninth season (2018) until the tenth season (2020).[12]
In 2020, Scholten released his third album, Jongen van de Straat.[13]
From 2021, Scholten offers entrepreneurial courses together with Boef.[fourteen]
His fourth anthology Ibiza Stories (2022), is about the dear and hate he feels towards his fiancee, and his alleged corruption on their 2021 vacation in Ibiza.[xv] [16]
Personal life and legal bug [edit]
Scholten has been in a human relationship with Jaimie Vaes since May 2017,[17] and they have been engaged since August 2018.[18] Their son was built-in in 2019.[19] On 23 May 2021, Scholten was arrested in Ibiza on suspicion of beating Vaes and breaking her phone. Afterward spending the night at the Civil Guard, he was provisionally released and the instance was provisionally dismissed by the Violence Against Women Court. Vaes did not appear before court and had reportedly left the country.[twenty] [21] The incident fabricated the theme of domestic violence a much discussed subject in the Dutch media that week.[22] [23] [24] [25] On 2 June 2021, the couple released a articulation video in which they denied physical violence had taken place.[26] Vaes later expressed regret regarding the release of their articulation video argument.[27]
On 11 Feb 2022, Scholten was sentenced to 120 hours of customs service for assaulting a man in a nightclub in 2019.[28] Two days afterwards, he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Vaes. Footage from a surveillance photographic camera allegedly showed him pulling her out of their machine by her hair and pushing the open machine door confronting her multiple times, wedging her caput in the doorway.[29] Initially released from custody after 2 days,[30] Scholten was re-arrested on 1 March following a successful appeal confronting his release past the prosecution.[31] He was released on bond on fifteen March.[32] In response to the arrest, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam removed Scholten'due south wax figure from their display, Spotify removed all his music from their editorial playlists, FunX stopped playing his music and Sony Music appear they would no longer exist working with him.[33]
