Turkey Ground Beef Meatloaf With Cranberry Glaze
Turkey meatloaf is glazed with a sweet and tangy sauce of brown sugar and fresh cranberries for a delicious autumn dinner. If you like cranberries, this meal is sure to be a family favorite.
This week I'm participating in #CranberryWeek - a fun blog event dedicated to celebrating and sharing recipes using cranberries in all forms. Check out the bottom of this post for more cranberry recipe ideas.
We love cranberries in our house. I look forward to seeing bags of fresh ones appear in the grocery store in the fall. My kids love them, too -- they will even eat them raw. I like to use them in all sorts of recipes and I even toss a few in our morning smoothies occasionally.
Using fruit in savory dishes is something I like to do a lot. There are many fruits, especially berries, that pair so nicely with savory foods and meat dishes. Plus, my kids love fruit and getting them excited about eating dinner is sometimes a challenge. They loved this cranberry meatloaf and the adults did as well.
Meatloaf is a favorite comfort and cold-weather meal of mine. I'll always chose it if it's available. I like to change-up the way I make it occasionally and this recipe is a keeper for that.
I often use a tomato-based glaze with ketchup or barbecue sauce, but the cranberries work so well for this and using turkey and the seasonings pairs nicely with the cranberry. The brown sugar helps to sweeten up the cranberries here and also make a nice sticky glaze.
We had this with a side of mashed potatoes and a side of roasted delicata squash and it was a delicious autumn dinner. The addition of allspice in the glaze and the poultry seasoning in the meatloaf gives it a feel of the holidays as well.

Cranberry & Brown Sugar Glazed Turkey Meatloaf
Turkey meatloaf is glazed with a sweet and tangy sauce of brown sugar and fresh cranberries for a delicious autumn dinner.
ingredients:
For the cranberry glaze
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon grainy mustard
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- dash of ground allspice
For the turkey meatloaf
- olive oil
- 2 lbs ground turkey (I like to use dark meat or a mix of light and dark)
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup rolled (old-fashioned) oats
- 1 large egg
instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, water, mustard, brown sugar, a good pinch of salt, and couple grinds of black pepper, and a dash of allspice. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring often, until reduced and thickened, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat.
- Lightly grease a rimmed baking sheet with olive oil and preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Add all of the meatloaf ingredients to a large bowl. Then add 1/3 cup of the prepared cranberries. Use your hands to mix it up well and then form it in a loaf on the prepared baking sheet.
- Use a small spoon or a brush to spread all of the cranberries on top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375 degrees. Continue to bake until the turkey registers 165 degrees on a meat thermometer, about 35-40 minutes.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
